A: At Aquanauts Swim Academy, we recommend that children attend swim lessons at least once a week to build consistency and reinforce water safety skills effectively.
Weekly lessons allow our instructors to assess progress regularly and tailor each session to the child's current abilities, ensuring steady improvement.
For families seeking accelerated skill development, especially for younger or beginner swimmers, we offer the option of private lessons multiple times per week depending on availability.
Consistent practice combined with our focused teaching approach promotes confidence and competence in the water, which is essential for your child's safety and enjoyment.
A: At Aquanauts Swim Academy, each swim lesson is designed to be either 30 or 60 minutes long.
The 30-minute sessions are most common for young children under 5, ensuring focused, individualized instruction that maximizes skill-building and water safety practice without overwhelming them.
For older students, advanced swimmers, or those wanting a longer session, we offer 60-minute lessons. Whether taking private, semi-private, or mobile lessons, all our sessions provide enough time for warm-up, technique development, and confidence-building exercises tailored to your or your child's skill level.
Our approach balances effective teaching with attention to each swimmer’s unique needs, ensuring every lesson is productive and engaging.
A: For every lesson at Aquanauts Swim Academy, please bring a swimsuit and a towel as essentials. We also recommend swim goggles to protect your eyes and enhance visibility underwater, although they are optional.
For children under three years old, a swim diaper is required to maintain pool hygiene.
Additionally, bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the session.
Finally, come prepared with a positive attitude to make the most of your learning experience focused on water safety and skill-building.
A: At Aquanauts Swim Academy, we understand that fear of water is common among children. Our instructors use gentle, confidence-building techniques tailored to each child’s comfort level, ensuring they feel safe and supported throughout the learning process.
We focus on creating a fun and encouraging environment, allowing children to progress gradually at their own pace.
Our private, semi-private, and mobile lessons emphasize both water safety and skill development, designed to build your child’s confidence and help them overcome water anxiety effectively.
A. Yes! We offer semi-private lessons (1:2 or 1:3) where siblings or friends of similar skill levels can learn together and enjoy the benefit of group lessons! Contact us to book semi-private lessons between two families.
A: At Aquanauts, we understand that scheduling conflicts and unexpected events can occur. If your child misses a lesson, we offer one complimentary make-up lesson per session each month to ensure continued progress in their swim training.
To accommodate make-up scheduling effectively, we kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations. If notice is provided less than 2 hours before the lesson, a small cancellation fee may be applied to offset losses experienced by our instructors.
This policy helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our private, semi-private, and mobile swim lessons focused on water safety and skill-building on Vancouver Island.
